Gavin Wilkinson and Sarah Hughes, Datitude’s co-founders and directors, took to the open road and rolling hills of Scotland on 7th September 2025 to take part in the inaugural Tour de 4; a charity cycle event set up by Sir Chris Hoy.
Their efforts have helped to raise over £6,000 for Mission Remission. It’s an incredible amount that will make a big impact, thanks to the generosity of individuals. They are truly grateful to everyone who’s supported them and donated.
Cycling has always been a big part of Gavin and Sarah's lives, including when Gavin was diagnosed with advanced cancer four and a half years ago and went through the brutality of chemotherapy, steroids and immunotherapy.
Now cancer-free, this event was so much more than miles in the saddle (56 to be precise!). Given their lived experience, Gavin and Sarah wanted to be a part of the Tour de 4 movement; riding on a mission to challenge the perceptions of late-stage cancer and raise vital funds for cancer charities across the UK.
They chose to pedal with the purpose of raising money for Mission Remission; a small cancer charity that Gavin is proud to have joined as a trustee earlier this year.
Mission Remission is dedicated to supporting people move forward after cancer. The charity focuses on the often-ignored stage of cancer support - the months and years post-treatment - providing a sanctuary for all and helping to make life beyond cancer a little less scary and a lot more hopeful.
If you, or anyone you know, could benefit from knowing more about Mission Remission, including their support activities and campaigns for change, please check out Mission Remission’s website or socials (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and X).
Gavin and Sarah have been so inspired and humbled by the people they met at Tour de 4, and their motivations for being there, including the amazing ambassadors and volunteers. The support from the crowds who lined the route to cheer everyone along was also phenomenal.
Despite the wet conditions on the day, there was no way the weather was going to dampen anyone’s spirit - as you can see from the photos of Sarah and Gavin, their very good friend Doug Quinn and a couple of the Tour de 4 ambassadors.
